18 Years Olds Now Allowed to Carry in Texas

Effective immediately, in order to comply with a court order, the state of has lowered the minimum age to get a Texas license to carry to 18 years old. This means that 18-20 year olds can now take the Texas license to carry class and get a license to carry like everyone else who has an LTC.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will now issue Texas license to carry to anyone who is at least 18 years of age and legally able to own/possess a gun. Anyone 18 years of age or older with a Texas license to carry will now be able to carry concealed or open carry in Texas. The process for anyone 18-20 years old to get a Texas license to carry is now the same as everyone else. They may take the Texas online license to carry course and apply for their license online on the Texas DPS website.
